Assignment 21A

Mindset the new psychology of success is a book by Carol Dweck that focuses on how to optimize the way you think to bring about success and actually keep yourself motivated and how a lot of success comes from a specific mindset that you have to have. It focuses on persistence, on confidence, and that a continued sense and love for learning is what will help you make it or break it as an entrepreneur. I think that a good exercise related to this book for the class might be to create mind maps of our ideas, what we’d like to learn about the ideas we don’t know much about, what are the ideas that scare us most, and how we can overcome those fears. An activity geared more towards breaking down mental barriers that keep us trapped in and afraid to pursue something really great for fear of not knowing enough or failing. Maybe an activity geared towards having to fail and start over again. The book connected with the course because the course is more about the business and actual developmen...

Assingment 20A

The first is Fernando Pinto who is a real estate developer in South Florida and an avid, experienced entrepreneur. The second is Daniel Lozano who is an information technology expert and a programmer. The last is Jorge Carnevali who has 20+ years of experience in the tech parts industry, sourcing high-tech parts to huge tech firms. Jorge Carnevali is my supplier, Daniel Lozano is my domain expert, and Fernando Pinto is my market expert being that he himself consists of the high-income earners that I wish to target. Fernando Pinto is my boyfriend’s father so I reached out and told him that I had an idea about a business I would like to start but that I wanted a bit of feedback on what I had so far. Daniel Lozano is my first cousin who has his own IT business in Colombia and whom I asked to skype with me about a business venture I wanted him to get in on. Jorge Carnevali is my best friend’s dad who has worked in software and tech sourcing his whole life. I told him just like the re...

Assignment 16A

First Interview: Mom & Dad Me: Hi Maria could I’m conducting this interview to understand a little bit more about what sets me apart from the rest, what makes me unique. Can we start off by you telling me three things you think are unique about me? Mom: There are a lot of amazing things about you and I love all of them but what makes you unique is the way in which you aim to see the best in everyone, your heart and intentions are so pure and you can notice it by just having one conversation with you because it’s the energy that you give off. You are also incredibly intelligent, you are always able to take something completely new and master it in no time. Its extraordinary. As for the third thing that makes you unique I think its your way of understanding and knowing how to calm down other people or how to react to them to make them secure of themselves. Me: Thank you for that. Do you think that I have grown into these traits or have I always been like this? Mom: you have...

Assignment 15A

I interviewed three wealthy home-owners. I got a bit of mixed feedback from the three. I asked questions like “what would make you happy with this purchase?”, “what would be an alternative to this purchase?”, and “where would you go to look for something like this product?”, and “is it something you would consider and what important factors would lead to your decision to buy?”. The following is a summarized version of my feedback. After interviewing three individuals from the segment I feel my product can best address I have figured out that there are multiple factors that influence the decision of the consumer to become a customer. Since the segment I am targeting is high class style and luxury is extremely important to them, the harmony the product would cause within their home is super important to most homeowners. Price also plays a factor but not a defining one as long as the product isn’t massively overpriced in comparison to its alternatives. The alternatives that I discove...

Keeping up with an online class, especially when you work a full-time job is very complicated and hectic. It requires a lot of responsibility, attention, and discipline. Above all discipline. You have to discipline yourself and manage your time in such a way that you set aside sufficient amount of time to be able to succeed within the course. This can be difficult if you have tons of other responsibilities, the key is to get into a weekly routine or a daily routine if the class requires massive amounts of time. A weekly routine has worked best for me because it makes it easier to remember to do the class because once the habit is created it comes naturally. Every Thursday after work I catch up on everything for the class that pertains to that week and if I have time on Sundays I will try to get ahead a bit to give me some leeway. That is also key, if you have the time always get ahead because you never know when something will come up and you won’t have time to do an assignment sai...

Assignment 13A

The entrepreneur I read about Ray Kroc, the fast-food tycoon that all but established McDonald’s as basically part of the American culture with how prominent and successful he was. Nowadays there is a McDonalds on almost every street corner in America. What surprised me the most was that he was not in fact the founder of McDonalds nor the idea of its burger, the McDonalds brothers were. As the story goes he snatched the idea out from under them and ran with it, technically conning the brothers out of any of the rights to the idea or business concept of franchising it. I know that in the world of business it is better to be a shark than a minnow but this is the fact that I least admire about Ray Kroc, his lack of loyalty and his shady actions. He is not a person with integrity or morals but just does anything and everything for money and to be rich. I do admire his ambition and his determination to succeed and grow no matter his circumstance. I also admire the way in which he would no...

Assignment 12A

The segment I will be targeting is that of high-middle, to high class consumers possibly even celebrities or public figures who can also turn their efforts at being green into good publicity and that also have the type of money to put towards making their house a green smart house. Another segment we can target are developers and construction companies and negotiate implementing the system already in the house or building they wish to develop and sell. This would be good for them in the sense that there are a lot of tax related cuts and grants being awarded to developers and construction companies who are implementing more sustainable and greener practices into their way of constructing. It can be argued that creating a “greener house” is greensmart’s whole mantra. The terms that they would search in google are things like: sustainable living, smart homes, home solutions, home technology, luxurious living, etc. The sources of information they might look for are a website, examples ...
