Assignment 12A
The segment I will be targeting is that of high-middle, to high
class consumers possibly even celebrities or public figures who can also turn
their efforts at being green into good publicity and that also have the type of
money to put towards making their house a green smart house. Another segment we
can target are developers and construction companies and negotiate implementing
the system already in the house or building they wish to develop and sell. This
would be good for them in the sense that there are a lot of tax related cuts
and grants being awarded to developers and construction companies who are
implementing more sustainable and greener practices into their way of
constructing. It can be argued that creating a “greener house” is greensmart’s
whole mantra.
The terms
that they would search in google are things like: sustainable living, smart
homes, home solutions, home technology, luxurious living, etc. The sources of
information they might look for are a website, examples of other greensmart
homes, etc.
I
interviewed a wealthy segment of potential customers and what I found out is
that they would love to have bits and pieces of the services we offer and the
technology we integrate into their homes but they might find the whole service
of remodeling their whole house a bit excessive. Although the people I
interviewed were not looking to upgrade their home they made it clear that they
would be interested in implementing certain things that wouldn’t disrupt their everyday
life for too long like a whole remodeling would. I also spoked to developers
and they told me that this would probably increase the price of the house and
so they would have to evaluate how it would effect profit and revenue with the
grants and taxes I spoke about earlier. They also suggested that if they had to
look for someone to remodel their house the way I wish to then they would most
likely go by word of mouth, asking around for someone who has done the same, or
they would use the internet and observe their options.
In terms of information search this segment is a bit difficult
because the wealthy usually stick around with what the wealthy refer other wealthy
people. More than a website, starting with someone wealthy whom I possibly have
made a good case to would really up my business concept’s game.
